Pokémon NetBattle
What is NetBattle?
NetBattle, which is not to be confused with Netbattling from the Mega Man EXE series, is an online-simulator that was created by TVsIan and other programming done by many.
The simulator permitted many users to be able to battle with other trainers online with their established teams, that are created via the Team Builder. There is currently no support for animations, though the vast array of features it contains suit it well. As mentioned before, the program features a Team Builder in which the user establish their very own Pokémon team instantly. You can manage the Pokémon that are in your team by changing many of the characteristics such as:
- EVs
- IVs
- Nature
- Moves
- Held Item
- Level
- Hidden Power Type
The Team Builder itself, of course is not limited to only editing Pokémon. In order to battle, you must have a profile. It can be interpreted as part of your 2nd-Hand settings after program installation. You can edit your:
- Username
- Sprite Versions
- Icon
- Win/Loss Messages
Battles are arranged between users in servers, in which numerous users can connect to and battle it out. It also features a t built-in chat for servers, which can be interpreted as a IRC for many. Servers can be scripted, using a built-in scripting system, and you can create a mod database to allow certain moves for certain Pokémon.
How do I get it?
Below are links to NetBattle binaries. Note that Pokémon NetBattle only works on Windows OS', so if you're a Linux user, sorry!
Installer (0.9.6)
After installing, it is recommended that you apply the patch (mentioned below) to your NetBattle distribution, making sure that NetBattle isn't running while this is being done.
Patch
NetBattle Support Ceased
While you may currently see that the binaries and the Why? Pokémon NetBattle is not what it used to be. Major, popular servers such as Smogon, PokeRealm, Dark Tournament, Morlord, etc. are gone, and filled with other non-English servers that do not stand up to the mentioned servers.
It is recommended that you check out Shoddy Battle, which is where most NetBattle players have migrated to. It has almost every functionality built from NetBattle, but best of all, it's Cross-Platform
