Pokétch - Pokémon Diamond and Pearl
The Pokétch (originally Pokémon Watch) is Diamond and Pearl's replacement for Pokémon Ruby, Saphire and Emerald's Pokénav.
This convenient tool is handed to you once you reach Jubilife City. The president of the Pokétch Company will grant you a free Pokétch, under one condition. You must answer one question from three clowns that are scattered throughout the city. Each of the questions have to do with Pokémon battling, so you should quickly brush them off.

Your touch-screen is now put to use. Depending on your gender, the color will change.
The Pokétch provides many convenient tools called 'applications', which the Pokénav does not have. This is an all-around trainers tool, as you can see!
Default Applications
You don't just get the watch, there's plenty more where that came from. When you first receive your Pokétch, these applications will all ready come ported with it by default.
- (#1) Watch
This simple application tells you the time. Touch it for a little glow effect.
- (#2) Calculator
Self-Explanatory, it's a calculator that indicates the operation on the left side in bold, and numbers are bold as well.
- (#4) Step Counter
If you're a Pokémon Breeder, then this tool is a must have. It counts all of the steps you've made since the last reset. Speaking of reset, you can easily reset the count if you're hatching eggs. No more surprising egg hatching, I suppose..
- (#5) Party Roster
I suppose pressing X and then navigating to 'Pokémon' can get tiresome, especially if you're lazy like me. It displays your party, indicating their health and if they hold an item. Poke them and they cry.
Obtainable Applications
Applications that are obtained as you progress further within the game.
I suppose there isn't much use for the tool itself unless you're bored. You receive this little toy from the President of the Pokétch Company once you attain your first Gym Badge.
Your Pokémon will be running around wherever their logic takes them. Tapping on one of your Pokémon stops them in their tracks while crying out. Not only that, but if the Pokémon is happy alongside you then a heart appears. How many hearts appear depends on how much they like you. Two-hearts is about just right for a tamed Pokémon. You obtain this by a lady in the Eterna City Pokémon Center.
Replacing the traditional Key Item, this application helps you locate items that are hidden. Tapping the touch screen releases a sonar type of sound, and if there is an item nearby, then it will indicate where you may find it. If you are standing on top of the item, then the central part of it indicates it. Dawn/Lukas hands you this application on Route 207.
If you like to plant berries and you have a bad memory on where you planted them, then this is a tool you'll keep using again and again. This application displays a map, and marks areas with a berry sign, to show a berry has been planted in said area. It also indicates progress of growth. You can obtain this tool by the Berry Master on Route 208.
This is another tool for those who enjoy breeding and don't like having to check the breeding center and talking with an old lady just to see the progress in levels. Thankfully, you can obtain this in the Day Care Center in Solaceon Town
Special Applications
There are numerous applications you may obtain throughout the game as you progress, though there are others in which you can't obtain unless you meet a certain criteria.
